June ~ Gyldenholt Anniversary
The theme for the children was Chivalric Virtues . We made viking-style necklaces that were presented to Their Majesties of Caid and Their Excellencies of Gyldenholt. The children had poster board shields and could color or glue items to them. We also had paper, markers, and various stickers available. We played a "Rescue the Maiden" relay race. After the "official" version, kids made up their own variations and some of them played for an hour longer! In addition to what I brought, the following also provided for the children: Children's Arts Competition, Lady Christiana de Mandeville (Competition winner was Kaitlyn Wulfricsdottir); Youth Combat, THL Teka Turmanov; Youth Bardic Competition, Bantiarna Sadb inghean Abner ui Lorcainn (Unfortunately, no children entered but I am grateful that they tried ). Congratulations to Aaron mac Tigernaig, Dana Wulfricsdottir and Aelfriede von Vogelsang for being awarded their Acorns!

March ~ Gyldenholt/Calafia Friendship Tournament

January ~ Gyldenholt Unbelted Tournament
Children decorated their own loot pouch, using a variety of fun materials, made many fun creations with beads and string bracelets, necklaces, belts, etc. - it was fun to see what they came up with! We had a pirate relay race - children got into a ship (a box decorated like a ship, which they stepped into and carried), sailed past the dangerous sea creatures, got out and walked down the gankplank (bubble wrap - that was a lot of fun!), killed the pirate in his lair (smacked a rag doll with a boffer sword), stole his treasure (bead necklaces), did the whole thing in reverse and passed the boat onto the next sea captain. Thanks to Caitrin and Tigernach for running this activity! We had a pirate ship battle, with cardboard ships and soft playballs for "cannonballs". And, we had pirate and castle toy sets, as well as other toys and games, available all day.

June ~ Gyldenholt Anniversary
Thank you to Timothy the Procrastinator for this report: Although we had a dozen or more youths at Gyldenholt today we had 4 Youth Combatants in 3 Age groups. I think some of our youths spent their time at the Archery Range (a equally worthy endevor) and of course several formed the Princess Royal's escort. In the 7-9 group Logan son of Killian (age 9) again captured the best two out of three, defeating new commer Eric the Red (age 8). Jack Lovett (age 12) and Logan Lochrane (age 14) warmed up by sparing against each other before the worthyness of each was tested in turn by Duke Guillaume who graciously agree'd to face them. I fear we almost had to call a cardiac response team for several members of Baroness Bridget's court until I reminded the Duke that he should only defend, not engage the youth combatant's. I am very greatfull to Guillaume for his time, and he held up well under Baron Wulfric's ribbing, calling him forword at closing court with the "other" Boffer combatants.

March ~ Gyldenholt/Calafia Friendship Tournament
The A&S winners were Aaron mac Tigernaig with his inkle weaving and documentation, and Críostóir mac Tigernaig with an original "Viking saga" . We had terra cotta clay available for children to make their own rune stones or clay Viking toys. They made many interesting and original creations! We made paper drinking horns - wow, those were cool, and we could really drink from them!We played a Viking trader relay race. This was a lot of fun! We got to "ride" in a Viking dragon ship, gallop across the desert on a fine Arabian steed, and trade furs for spices and glassware. We played Viking table games, and colored runestones. Hnefatafl was fun! Boffers were in the style of a Viking hólmgang. Boffer winners were Jordan (0-6), Cameron (7-10), Kevin (11-14). Thanks to Tigernach for running boffers! And as befits a Viking event, we ended with Ragnarok! Gods and Giants battled to the death! It's too bad closing court got in our way! Thank you to everyone who helped with activities for the children, especially Dana, Kaitlyn, Cameron, the Mysterious Lady in Yellow, Críostóir and Caitrín.

January ~ Gyldenholt Unbelted Tournament
We played a "station game" where each child learned a bit about Medieval Medicine . All children participating in the potpourri craft received an extra "limb" for boffers. In addition, the potpourri was made into sachets and presented to Her Majesty of Caid and Her Excellency of Gyldenholt at closing court. Children participating in this activity were Críostóir, Aaron, Gaulti, Megan, Joe, Katie, Louie, Jenna, Dana, Gwen, Logan and Dalla. Boffers was an adaptation of a "Bertie Beetle" style tournament. Everybody tried to acquire hits on their opponents' various body parts, and acquire a full "BODY". Participants were scored on unique hits to the BODY: head, two arms, torso, and two legs. The 6 and under age group was not required to claim a "head". EveryBODY who claimed a whole BODY received a prize. Everyone who played received a yarn doll token. Boffer participants of exceptional note were: (0-6) Dalla Jade: Achieved the goal of scoring a hit on every body part, (0-6) Ethan:Best Death, (7-9) Gaulti Skullcleaver: Most Chivalrous, (7-9) Logan: Best Death, (10+) Meghan: Most Chivalrous, (10+) Hunter: Most Chivalrous.

We painted a flowerpot with the general use badge of Caid (it had a stencil, so it was easy for the children to paint the pot blue with few mistakes!), and filled it with ink pens decorated to resemble flowers, in blue and white, for Her Majesty to keep or distribute (she said she planned to take them to Estrella).
